The Diocese of
Monmouth

News from Niassa

Helen Van Koevering paid a flying visit to Monmouth diocese after attending the Lambeth Conference, providing the opportunity for members of supporting churches to meet with her informally.

Bettws parish hosted a coffee morning and approximately thirty people heard Helen give up-to-date information about the family and the work of the diocese of Niassa.

Kylie is preparing to go to boarding school to continue her education. Jake and Matthew are together at school, Jake being the more academic and Matthew interested in sport.

Life in the diocese of Niassa has many challenges as there has been much growth in the church - 25% over the period of Mark’s episcopacy. “Rooted in Christ”, the African equivalent of Alpha, is being used, and helping new Christians to deepen their faith and grow into spiritual maturity is a priority. The hope is for two new dioceses by 2011, and for 500,000 people being reached in programmes and projects.

Please remember Mark, Helen, their children and the people and work of the diocese of Niassa in your prayers.

Mark and Helen hope to be in Monmouth Diocese next year.
