NEWS ARchive: 2007 June, July
On 4th July, Bishop David Beetge of our link diocese, the Highveld, visited Magor School. The school council presented him with a filtastraw and an information booklet. Filtastraws are a simple device designed for people in the third world who do not have access to clean drinking water. Scientific tests show that filtastraws kill most bacteria, providing drinking water which is as good as tap water.
The children and staff held a non-uniform day with an African theme and raised £300 to buy the filtastraws through Brynmawr Rotary Club's National Water Project.
A further 88 straws will be sent to the Highveld.
