Singing and waving branches, a happy crowd from Raglan, Llandenny and Bryngwyn followed Diva the Donkey through Bryngwyn village to St Peter’s church on Palm Sunday. Diva came into church and she and her friends were prayed for before she set off home.

On Easter morning, the churches of the Raglan and Usk Deanery met at 6am on the top of The Blorenge mountain. It was dark and very cold, but fairly still and clear with a bright moon. We stood and watched the line of car lights coming up the mountain road. Sixty people came. We shared the Eucharist just as the sun rose into view. It was a special moment.

Afterwards we enjoyed a good breakfast on the mountaintop before descending to our parishes.

photo of candlelit churchSt. Paul's Church, Newbridge, held a Taizé Service during Holy Week. It was a very spiritual and quiet service and having the church lit with all these candles and no other form of lighting really enhanced the worship. The Taizé service was one of a series of services held during Holy Week in the parish.

On Good Friday the children at St. Peter's Church at Pant Side led the service during the morning. They guided us along the Stations of the Cross following Christ's journey. One of our teenagers enacted the part of Jesus. He was placed in the tomb after the crucifixion and they completed their story at the empty tomb and the empty cross.
