Winners, Awards, MAPs and Launches at the Diocesan Conference
It was hard to choose a winner from the entries submitted by pupils at Caerleon Endowed Junior School in a competion to design the cover of the 2007/8 Diocesan Year Book, but Esther Sully’s design was chosen for her lively use of colour and the way the happy people give a welcoming impression with the church building clearly there but in the background.
Another winner was Sasha Wilson whose thoughtful design was chosen as the cover for the new handbook Hope for Monmouth: Children and Young People which was launched at the Conference.
Written by Youth Officer Pam Richards and Children’s Officer Sue Collingbourne, this is a resource book for leaders and PCCs who are wanting to provide for children and young people in the church.
Mr Peter Lea (right) was presented with a gift to mark his retirement as Chairman of the Diocesan Board of Finance.
The new Chairman is Mr Sandy Blair (left) who has had a distinguished career in local government and is churchwarden at Llantrisant.
Revd Dennis Richards, Revd Dr William Ingle-Gillis, and Revd Janet Bone have all completed training with Revd Sr Anita Woodwell SGS to become Prayer Guides, qualified to lead a Week of Guided Prayer or a Weekend Individually Guided Retreat. They will be helping with the Diocesan Week of Guided Prayer from 17th - 24th Feb 2008. This week will start and end with sessions held centrally but during the week there will be bases throughout the diocese for individuals to come for guidance.
