Street Pastors are on their way
Twelve Street Pastors were commissioned by the Bishop on 1st August before beginning their first night on the city streets. Two of the original street pastors from London came specially for the occasion. With them after the service are Margaret Smith of Newport Churches Together and Police Sergeant Bernie Dawson who has helped with their training.
Richard Morgan reports that he has now been out three times with his group and they have always had a positive response from the people on the streets, as well as many interesting conversations (especially after a few pints!)
The next group of Street Pastors will begin training at the end of September and we hope that there will then be around 24 Street Pastors to cover the busy Christmas period.
