Mynyddislwyn gets a visit from St Nicholas
On the feast of St Nicholas, the churches of St David, St Tudor and St Augustine had a special visitor. ‘St Nicholas’ attended the regular Sunday Mass where he distributed bags of gold chocolate coins to all present.
As St Nicholas Day is in early Advent and he is associated with children and gifts, the churches invited the saint to visit during the Sunday service to explain who he is and what it means to celebrate his memory today.
Fr John Humphries, Rector of the Benefice of Mynyddislwyn, said “On this day the homily reflected St Nicholas' true identity, as opposed to the more commercial Father Christmas or Santa we are all bombarded with at this time of the year. This is the first time that St Nicholas has visited this benefice and we hope he will continue to visit us every Advent.”
