COURSE FOR VOLUNTEER ORGANISTS

An overnight course aimed at pianists who have volunteered to play the organ in their church.

The course includes sessions on hymn playing, accompanying services, coping with organ stops, simple use of pedals and useful repertoire – an essential survival package! Many churches have supported their Volunteer Organist by paying for the course as ‘in-service training’ and many former course members have reported on the immediate impact that this training has had in the worship of their churches. Combining informal and sympathetic teaching with the pleasures of residence in the Cathedral Close. These courses have become a popular focus for pianists who have been 'thrown in at the deep end' with organ playing at their church.
