There is a most helpful book on the practicalities of selecting and producing texts. Mark Earey’s Producing your own orders of service (London: Praxis/Church House, 2000) does exactly what it says on the tin, and in addition to helping you make your service books look good, outlines a wealth of good principles for layout and design which would not go amiss on some church notice sheets or bulletins.
