Rectorial Benefice of Holyhead

The Parish of Holyhead has a very clear boundary: that of an island, an island called Holy Island or Ynys Cybi (meaning [St] Cybi's Island) in Welsh. Although small in area of some 15.22 Sq miles, it is called 'Holy' because of the high concentration of standing stones, burial chambers and other religious sites including the hermitage site of St Cybi, the patron saint of the Parish Church. It is a Parish that is set in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Special Scientific Interest; a historic heritage stretching back many millenniums and important area to observe the natural world.
